TsGui update 0.9.6.2

Hi all,

I found a bug today while doing a build. In a FreeText/ComputerName option, the process that removes invalid characters from the result of a query wasn’t working properly. It’s a relatively minor issue, but annoys me so I’ve published a fix. Version 0.9.6.2 is now published on the download page.

Cheers,

Mike

TsGui update 0.9.6.1

Hi all,

I have posted a minor update to TsGui. This update adds the ability to truncate values returned from queries. This was a feature request from a TsGui user, and gives you more control of the format of data that comes back from queries.

*Please read the release notes as there is a change to how the <Append>, <Prefix>, and <Calculate> options are processed. They are now processed from top to bottom, rather than calculations being done first.

There is also a fix so that Parallels VMs getting detected properly during hardware eval.

Download the new version here.

Cheers,

Mike.

TsGui update 0.9.6.0

Hi all,

I have uploaded TsGui 0.9.6.0 to the downloads page. This update brings a few new features:

  • Validation rules allow you to enforce what is entered into FreeText/ComputerName options. This is useful for making sure naming standards are adhered to.
  • New formatting options to allow additional design and layout choices, such as the layout below.
  • -config command line option to specify a different config file.

Malware alerts *updated

Hi all,

Some TsGui downloads are currently being reported as viruses by Windows Defender. This only appears to be affecting versions 0.9.4.0, 0.9.3.3, and 0.9.3.2. It doesn’t appear to be an issue with the latest version (0.9.4.1).

I’ve checked the server and files over and from what I can see everything looks intact. I’m pretty confident Defender is just reporting a false positive, most likely because the executables aren’t signed.

I’m in the process of trying to sort out a code signing certificate for TsGui. By the looks of it I can get one cheap as it is an open source project, so fingers crossed this resolves the issue. I’ve also added the MD5 checksums to the download page, so you can verify the zip files you have downloaded.

**Update 9-Nov – Looks like the cert authority doesn’t have an option to sell to someone in New Zealand. I’ve sent an email to them but so far no response. I’ll keep trying.

In the meantime I’ve taken the precaution of pre-submitting TsGui to the MS malware submission page. Hopefully this is enough to stop the false positives. **

If anyone is having issues please let me know. I will keep you posted on signing the executables.

Cheers,

Mike.

TsGui update – version 0.9.4.1

Hi all,

I’ve just uploaded a new version of TsGui. This version adds a feature requested by a user in the /r/SCCM subreddit. There is a new “InfoBox” GuiOption. This allows you to display information from a WMI query or environment variable in the same way as with FreeText or DropDownList option, but in a read-only form. This is useful for displaying system information to the user.

Thanks again to those using and feeding back into TsGui.

Cheers,

Mike

TsGui 0.9.4.0 – DropDownLists from WMI queries

Hi all,

Today I have published TsGui 0.9.4.0 to the site. This update brings the ability to create drop down lists based on WMI queries. I built this function primarily to list the available disks for the user to select where to install Windows.

To get more information on how to use this feature, see the How-to Videos

I have also added additional comments to the Config_Examples.xml to try and make it more descriptive and easy to follow.
